“There is to be no more shame.”

Spirit spoke those words through me in two different Reiki sessions recently. She was talking about one piece of a huge shift that’s already started. She means that the entire 3-dimensional narrative, the entire paradigm of the human systems set up on Earth in the last thousands of years – known as the Age of Capricorn – is built on narrow hierarchies. Hierarchy exists on shame, and it’s time for that paradigm to end.
Think about it. We have class shame, racial shame, body shame, education shame. Gender shame, disability shame, cultural shame, religious shame. We have microaggressions, fat-shaming, slurs. You’re too poor, you’re too brown, you’re too pretty, too lazy, too emotional, too closed off, too loud, too quiet.
Shame keeps us quiet, striving hard to be seen as enough in the eyes of people around us. It’s used to teach us how to behave. It punishes us when we step out of line. It keeps us consuming and escaping. It tells us we don’t belong. We buy things to counteract our shame, to fix it, to cover it up. We push ourselves to prove we’re worthy of being valued by a system that exists by telling us we’re not. We hurt people by accident, or on purpose, because we’re driven by cycles of shame. We fall out of love with ourselves under the watchful eye of this system.
The shame keeps us apart from our heart, and each other. It comes in different ways – through conditioning and internalized messages that we take deep into our cells. Even the wealthiest, most privileged people — who seem to be the most insulated — aren’t immune to shame because it’s all around us, like the air. So many of those people can only conceptualize themselves in relation to who they are “richer than” or “better than,” looking out at the world like we all do, through a lens informed by shame. They were born, like we all are, into a world so informed by shame it is a white noise we don’t even notice anymore. It’s so written into our DNA that we don’t even realize we’re suffering.
Even people who would do the most harm to others, selfish people, bullies – they are steeped in shame. Scratch the surface of any bully and you’ll find a white hot core of shame and anger. That anger, which we all feel sometimes, is a natural by-product of living in a society that exists to diminish us. Even the richest among us were taught by people who ate the same bogus concepts of “better than/less than,” which they were fed from a hundred generations back. This diminishment of Spirit traumatizes us and anger is the result of that trauma. There is not a soul among us who hasn’t been the victim of trauma, present or inherited.
But as we approach the Winter Solstice, and the time literal 0 degrees of Aquarius – the same Age of Aquarius sung about in the 60’s, which needed gestate for a few decades first – we are in the midst of a paradigm shift. Not just because of the pandemic, not just a political shift, a but on a scientific level too: the magnetic poles of the Earth are moving, our planet is awash in new gamma rays and neutrinos and resonant frequencies.
So as we approach that portal of new energy Spirit is saying, “Leave your shame at the door. There is to be no more shame.”
Shame can no longer be the driving force, keeping us hungry for belonging and questioning if we ever will. Shame can’t be the greasy residue that keeps our own sovereign light hidden from us any longer. It can’t accompany us where we’re going.
That’s not to say all bad things will become a thing of the past, or that people won’t hurt each other anymore. We’ll still make mistakes and wish we could have a do-over, and there will still be suffering. Misguided people, marinating in their own shame, will still try to hurt us.
But the systems that will be created from this global reckoning, this shift, will be powered by something other than shame and hierarchy, from keeping everyone threatened. And Spirit is saying, “Don’t stink up the joint by lugging your shame across the threshold. You don’t need that anymore.”
It’s worth noting that relinquishing the shame we hold onto through conditioning, freeing ourselves from it, also means that we have to relinquish our own uses of shame, the fake value we wrap around ourselves like a ratty blanket meant to keep out the cold. Meaning, the ways we contribute to the shame paradigm, propping it up by choosing to view others through that lens to make ourselves feel better.
This means letting go of the ways we say, “Well, it’s okay to look down on so-and-so because they are below me.” “I’m not perfect but at least I’m not that guy.” Or even, “It’s okay to hate that guy because his views are hateful.” The ideas that other people hold that are so hateful and wrong? At the bottom of those ideas is probably a deep well of anger and disconnect, brought on by existing in a culture that steeps all of us in shame, and disconnects us from our own light and Divinity.
We see this in the so-called “woke and spiritual” crowd too. I know too many people who claim to be so spiritually enlightened that they are entitled to look down on Christians…. for the crime of looking down on them, because of religious differences. I’m sorry, what? It makes no sense. The veil of shame makes us think it’s okay to hate people who believe differently from us.
That is another thing that Spirit is saying when She says, “There is to be no more shame.” She means, “All of you get my name out your mouth as a reason to look down on others.” I can’t help but agree with her. To use Spirit as an excuse to deny someone else’s Divinity is wrong, no matter what you believe in.
It’s really hard to view a hateful, harmful person compassionately through the eyes of the heart rather than angrily through the eyes of the mind, but that’s what we’ll have to do to free our own selves from the grip of a paradigm that wants to destroy us bit by bit. Shame and anger go hand-in-hand and both will eat us from the inside if we let them.
I believe that as our planet becomes surrounded by these new frequencies the removal of deep shame will be like an egg cracking, or a slimy residue being washed away. Wise people all over the world are already asking, “Who would you be if you weren’t steeped in shame? What relationships could you heal, and which could you drop? What could you accomplish if the world wasn’t so interested in keeping you small and needing to consume? Who do you plan to be once you claim your sovereignty and see yourself through the eyes of the Divine? What will you do once you realize hierarchies and systems can never steal your light?”
So…. what will your life look like as you drop your shame like the unnecessary weight it is and walk through this upcoming portal with your head held high?
I can’t wait to see.
