I’m Moving Offices!
After 12 years at 345 Main Street in Laurel, MD I need to move.
Believe me, this was not planned. This was definitely a “If you want to hear laughter, tell God your plans” moment.
For years – YEARS, dear reader – I’ve had a dream to create a business incubator and wellness collective, where new practitioners just starting out could build their businesses slowly and steadily. I had this opportunity myself at Neighborhood Acupuncture, paying hourly rent rather than monthly fees, and it is 100% the only reason I’m still in business today. Paying it forward has been a burning dream in my heart since before the pandemic.
When my colleague Niall began to make plans to move his practice from Laurel to Frederick, MD I really put it out to the Universe. On September 24th I posted a video: “Hey, I’m looking for partners to help me take over this space in Laurel within the next year! Let’s build an incubator for small businesses!”
And then a week later, in early October we found out the building was sold. On November 6th we found out the new owners were raising our rent over 50% per month – an increase of over $2,000 per month!
There was no way we could stay, so the search began for a new home. Honestly, it has been really hard for me. 345 Main Street is much more to me than just an office space. It is where I learned Reiki, was introduced to Reiki, began my career, began channeling, where I became a teacher and mentored 25 of my students. Being forced to leave has felt like a baby bird being thrown out of the nest… but baby birds do learn to fly.
I was sad that my dream to create an incubator at 345 Main Street was snuffed out, but hope springs eternal. I’m moving just up the road to Historic Savage Mill, and that’s not all! *cue sing-songy voice* I’m bringing a few friends with me.
Say hello to Gentle Hands Healing Arts, a wellness collective and incubator!
As we open, it will be myself and my colleague Dr. Rachelle Dixon of Amazon Grove. Each of us will retain our websites, social media profiles, and business names, and we will operate out of 8600 Foundry Street, Suite 304 which will be called Gentle Hands Healing Arts. Over time we may introduce new practitioners as well, creating the incubator and collective I’ve dreamed about for so long.
